Rain- seems like that’s what we got for most summer! At what point did New York and Seattle trade places and I had no idea?
Since rain was the topic of the day this past June/July it makes me recall a lesson on Branding I viewed given by Ben Mack which I think had the title: “How to Be a Rainmaker” so something similar.
Over the next bunch of articles or so I will make an effort to cover some of the major points of this seminar which was comprised of three key sections: 1) How to make lightning Strike, 2) Keeping the Lightning Striking and 3) How to Bottle your Lightning.
In case your not aware of who Bejamin Mack is, he is one of the chief authorities on Branding currently in the United States. He is considered legendary in certain Ad agency circles for this work. Over the years Ben has worked at some of the most recognized advertizing agencies aorund and held position of Vice President for Brand strategy for a major corporation.
Basically, what that means was he was head strategist in charge of a ” billion dollar account (yes, I said ” billion or 500 million smakers)! Don’t you think he knows what he is talking about? I do, and not only has he performed magic for the many corporations he has beem employed at, he is also a professional magician who at the age of 19 was the youngest recipient of the Award of Merit given by the Academy of Magical Arts.
For those alien to the concept of what a rainmaker is, a rainmaker is someone medicine man not withstanding who instead of insuring a good harvest for his tribe brings increased revenue to his business by the use of his or her political clout, ability to attract customer therfore making the people he works for money.
As an internet Marketer your chief duty is to “up sell” individuals on their perception of reality. In Ben Macks book “Think Two Products Ahead” he speaks of how effective branding only occurs when companies think two products ahead rather then thinking in just the here and now and for them to assemble a flourishing relationship with their customers by means of their Brand The section in the book where Ben talks about creating your Legend Platform is worth its weight in gold!
A Brand (your brand, a Brand called YOU) is constructed through the use of Legends or communication that is repeated time and time again. These tales can and should be allowed to say the opposite of each other and absolutely will grow with age. So, if you’re going to pick a story that you construct for your business to help grow your business (after all you are reading articles like this to help you become more profitable in your business arent you?) why not pick the type that grows stronger with age and you will indeed become “Legendary”.
Look out for the next article in the “Rainmaker and Branding” series coming soon to a blog, e-zine or website near you!
